ONE FOR JASMINA: Was Rihanna’s sincerity an act?

March 1, 2010

A leukemia-prone child trembled the heart of Rihanna Fenty and sparked a “girlfriend” relationship between the 6-year-old and the superstar.

In January of this year, Jasmina Anema died of her life-long disease and Rihanna fans poured in on her account, but Jasmina’s mother, Thena Anema, wonders if Rihanna’s sincerity was falsified (said via People.com).

As posted on the Official Twitter Account for Jasmina supporters, an author acknowledged: It has been a month since Jasmina’s passing. Still not even a card or text message from Rihanna. Did she use my child for a publicity stunt?

Anema, in an email to People, said that she did not pen the tweet herself, but that she had wished Rihanna reached out to her in some sort of way.

Days after Jasmina’s death, however, Rihanna released this statement to the Associated Press: She was a very free, fun spirited little girl…. I always remember she wouldn’t sit still. She was always running around, always had a smile on her face.

Although Anema has appreciated Rihanna’s work, Katharina Harf of DKMS Americas suggests that Rihanna has worked genuinely for the cause: Last year she recruited over 5,000 bone marrow donors to DKMS – resulting in lives saved. She is relentless in her campaign to help children in the fight against leukemia and continues to urge her fans and people around the world to register with DKMS, as stated in People.com’s original post.

Marie Osmond’s son texts suicide note before death

March 1, 2010

The teenage son of an American legend leapt to his death from an 8th floor apartment window in Los Angeles (said via People.com, February 27).

Marie Osmond, mother of 18-year-old Michael Blosil, knew that Blosil had battled depression before and released this statement via her representative press: My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time.

According to TMZ and Entertainment Tonight, Osmond’s son left a suicidal note in his apartment and texted a female friend to tell her its whereabouts. After being let into Blosil’s apartment by roommates and reading the note aloud, largely hinting at a saddened life, the group heard approaching sirens.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department was notified at 9:24 p.m. and told People.com that Blosil fell at least 30 feet.

No information on funeral arrangements is known at this time.

Tiger Woods says “I’m sorry”

February 19, 2010

In a speech the world has waited for for over 3 months, Tiger Woods said “I’m sorry” for his actions (February 19).

“I want to say to each of you [family, friends, business partners and fans] simply and directly: I am deeply sorry for my irresponsible, selfish behavior,” said Woods, according to People.com. “I know people want to find out how I could be so selfish and so foolish. People want to know how I could have done these things to my wife Elin and to my children.”

Before Woods could finish this statement, @LadyW87 of Twitter suggested that “Tiger is so ratchet. Apologies to folk who have nothing to do with your [adulterous affairs],” a statement that much of the blogosphere had agreed with.

“And while I have always tried to be a private person….,” Woods continued. “There are some things I want to say. Elin and I have started the procress of discussing the damage caused by my behavior. My real apology…will come from my behavior. We have a lot to discuss. What we say to each other will remain between the two of us.”

As he did when the news first broke of the crash and of his adulterous affairs, Woods is mostly keeping his mouth shut. The conference, which held a small group of reporters and 1 camera in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl., was televised on a number of major networks, including CNN and CBS.

According to HuffingtonPost.com, Woods announced that he would return to golf, but that he does not “know when that day will be.” He denied any rumors that Elin Nordegren, his wife, had struck him the night of the crash and had asked the media and press to “Please leave my wife and kids alone.”

It is reported that Woods returned to his sex rehab program in Mississippi immediately after the conference was held.
