Janet Jackson: Getting over Michael & “Why Did I Get Married Too?” premiere

March 24, 2010

Janet Jackson looks stunning in a baggy ensemble at the “Why Did Get Married Too?” premiere in New York (said via People, March 23).

The singer/actress noted that director Tyler Perry was graciously forgiving and at once stopped production after learning of her elder brother [Michael Jackson]’s passing, amidst filming (Click HERE for more info).

Perry is quoted in saying (via People) that Janet’s continuation of the project was one of the best things she could have done: I think that a lot of times, people are not able to release. They don’t have a way to let go. And that’s the great thing about having a film like this, where she got to do all of these crazy things. And I think all of [her] emotion is in the film, I really do.

“Why Did I Get Married Too?” premieres April 2 in theaters worldwide.

Michael Jackson’s Death Investigation Closed; Murray charged with Jackson’s death

January 10, 2010

Dr. Conrad Murray, personal physician of the late Michael Jackson, will be charged with the death of the late pop star.

Jackson died in June 2009 of a reported overdose from a cocktail of drugs and is said to have been abusing drugs with Murray’s help, in recent years.

Murray refused to cooperate with police immediately after Jackson’s death, but has since denied the claim that he aided Jackson in the illegal use of drugs. It is reported that Murray will be charged with “involuntary manslaughter due to gross negligence.”**

Michael Jackson’s “This Is It:” Facing Lawsuit??

October 13, 2009

Paul Anka, a popular artist in the 1950s and songwriter for the likes of Frank Sinatra, said that Michael Jackson “stole” his song, noting that he co-wrote “This Is It” with Jackson in the early 1980s.** The Jackson estate has acknowledged Anka’s contribution and granted Anka 50 percent of “This Is It’s” publishing rights.***

Bloggers have reported that the song was originally recorded in 1991, but because its lyrics match the name of Jackson’s posthumous film, it was released to generate hype for the premiere.

“Michael Jackson’s This It It,” the film, hits theaters on October 28, 2009.
